Dr. Bike 'Learn to Fix' classes teach you the essentials of bike maintenance so you can get the most out of your bike and feel confident in dealing with minor mechanical hiccups
IMPORTANT: Classes are available by pre-booking only! Please read all of the following information before booking your place
Each class accommodates up to five people and all tools, materials and PPE are provided. All you need to bring is your bike* (in already safe-to-ride condition) and yourself in clothes you don't mind getting dirty in. Refreshments are not provided during the class but are available to purchase from Waitrose.
Essential Maintenance Classes last around 3-hours and include a 15 minute break.
Puncture Workshops last around 90-minutes.
While these classes are for adults, young people under the age of 18 may attend if accompanied by a participating parent or legal guardian; we'll just ask you to share a set of tools and to only work on one bike during the class. Please only book one ticket if you wish to attend with a person under 18 years of age.
Classes are hosted by Waitrose & Partners Horsham in their under-store carpark: a safe, all-weather and covered (but open-air) venue with street-level access and on-site conveniences. We strongly encourage you to cycle to your class but free parking is available for those participants who are unable to ride in.
*These are bike maintenance classes, NOT free maintenance clinics. If your bike is not in rideable condition you should have it serviced and made safe to ride by a local repairer before your class.

Our Essential Maintenance Classes are NOT free repair clinics. As such there are advanced techniques and work we will NOT cover during the class, such as:
Replacing major components such as drivetrain (chains, cassettes, derailleurs, etc.), wheels, tyres, saddles or major bearings (headset, bottom bracket, etc.)
Partial or complete rebuilds of disassembled bikes or fitting parts you have already purchased for your bike
Bleeding hydraulic brake systems or replacing disc brake pads
Tubeless or tubular tyre setup or repair
Ebike drive systems: repairs to, configuration changes or software updates
Truing (straightening) wheels or replacing broken spokes
Suspension servicing or repairs
Frame repairs, incl. welding or brazing, tapping or cutting threads, paint or finish repairs

Booking a place and attending a class constitutes agreement to the following terms and conditions:
Classes are available by pre-booking only. Anyone arriving without a pre-booked place will be refused entry.
*These are bike maintenance classes, not free maintenance clinics. If your bike is not in rideable condition you should have it serviced and made safe to ride by a local repairer before attending your class.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your class's advertised start time. Late arrivals are disruptive for other participants and we may refuse to admit you. If you are unable to make your class on time please let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.
Young people under the age of 18 may attend if accompanied by a participating parent or legal guardian and we'll ask you to share a set of tools and to only work on one bike during the class.
You are responsible for your own safety and that of those around you and you must follow all instructions given by the trainer.
Equipment provided for use during classes remains the property of Velo Square and must not be taken out of the training area. Any unauthorised removal of equipment will be treated as theft and will be reported to the police
Things can and do occasionally break when working on bikes; this can be due to age, misuse or previous poor maintenance. If something breaks on your bike during the session we will do our best to help but may need to refer you to a local repair service. You are liable for any costs associated with such a referral.
You must advise us of any medical condition or disability that may effect your ability to participate in the activity in question. Where reasonable adjustments are needed to facilitate your participation we will take all reasonable measures to implement them.
Cancelation by us: in the unlikely event that we have to cancel or reschedule your appointment we will endeavour to provide at least 24 hours notice. If we have to cancel we will try to offer an alternative appointment within two weeks of your original booking. We are not liable for any losses you incur consequent to cancellation.
Cancellation by you: if you are unable to attend your appointment please let us know as soon as possible so we can make it available to someone else. If you fail to attend and do not give us notice we reserve the right to decline any booking you make for future activity.
